By now, I am sure you have heard the sad news of the passing of a world legacy, Steve Jobs. Its sad that this inspirational mentor has departed us at now only such a young age, but also in such a high time with his career. Steve Jobs is the co-founder of Apple Inc and has developed life changing tools such as the personal computer, ipod, iphone, ipad and many more innovations. The world is at a total loss without the presence of Steve Jobs but his dreams and reality will never be forgotten.

Did you know that October is Canada’s Healthy Workplace Month (CHWM)? This is a month- long celebration designed to introduce workplace health to organizations and support those that are already promoting healthy workplaces. This is the eleventh year this CHWM has been running and is proving to be very successful in promoting healthy workplaces! Organizations are encouraged to submit their initiatives in how they are creating a healthy workplace to the Excellence Canada which will be showcased on the Canada’s Health Workplace Month website.

The theme for October 2011 is: Healthy Mind, Healthy Body, Healthy Work… Simple Goals for Everyone!

Just read a great article from Inside Schlumberger (Schlumberger website http://www.slb.com/) that was really exciting! It talks about the advantages of the Arctic for the Oil and Gas Industry and what advanced technology is being developed to adapt to the fierce Arctic climate. Very interesting stuff and I cannot wait to see where we will be at ‘tomorrow’!!

With renewed confidence in the economy, the Oil and Gas Industry are looking to continue the steady activity and companies are looking to hit the growth mode harder. This means a HUGE opportunity for employment in these areas ranging from openings in engineers to field crews to fuel growth and everything in between. Just got word from NASA that an old satellite is falling towards the Earth and we are right in its path! (I know!! OH GREAT!!) NASA is claiming that the satellite is broken into 26 pieces with an estimated combined weight of half a tonne. This is predicted to land by Friday and could reach anywhere from Edmonton southward. SAFETY FIRST! WATCH THE SKY!!!
