PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER SERVICING

Fire extinguishers must be inspected at least annually by a certified technician

Powder extinguishers require major service every six years on a rotating basis

6 Year Maintenance- Requires powder to be emptied, head disassembled and cleaned, lubed and put back together, verification of service collar installed, recharged, 6 year sticker with date of service attached to shell of extinguisher, tagged and returned to service.

12 year intervals – Requires extinguisher to be discharged and cleaned as above, cylinder is to be hydrostatically tested to listed PSI, dried, refilled, verification of service collar installed, recharged, hydrostatic test label with date of service attached to shell of extinguisher, tagged and returned to service.

CO2 extinguishers – Require hydrostatically testing every 5 years

K class, H2O extinguishers – Require hydrostatic testing every 5 years

(there is no 6 year service on non-powder extinguishers)
